I flew up to NY to visit my best friend and head professional at Laurel Links golf club Steve Haggerty. I have started to coordinate my visits with half day sessions with Michael Jacobs (nothing like improving your game on a the side)
First I am very allergic to hitting off mats so MJ cut an area of grass on the range for me to hit off of (very VIP). we got right into it and found that I had taken the NHA move a little to far and was moving my neck to the left. A little tweak of keeping my neck behind the ball and a little more right side tilt and I was hitting great again.
next we were off to the short game area because I have a mental disorder when it comes to bunkers. MJ showed me how to hold the club square and rotate my forearms slightly open and use my body to cut the shot out of the sand and this worked great!
I will post the videos we made so you can all get a free lesson at my expense
On Monday Steve invited MJ and his business partner Chris over to play at Laurel. But back to me, because that is what this is all about!
I hit the ball very well and shot a 40 on the front because I can't putt for crap and missed 4 putts inside of 4 feet 3 of which might have been inside of 2 feet for pars. MJ is a very good player and it is great to see an instructor put his money where his mouth is and show his skills on the course.(I have seen many pros who will not play in front of their students.)
We had a great steak and I think Steve and Mike will become good friends so all was good and that is about as much as anyone can ask for.

    Videos

    enjoy,
    Ric

Thanks for those videos Ric and Mike!
The VSP info is very helpful and I think very important to help all golfers improve and hit more solid shots. I don't think you will read or hear anyone else talking about VSP. Making solid contact with the whole club soled flat on the ground is so important to all golfers who want to improve.

Thanks Ric. I am finally going down to see Mike next week. After spending a day working with my swing, Mike is likely to be offline for a few days

Had a blast working with Ric, always a pleasure to see him and see how enthusiastic he is about his golf education. It was a great 3 hours and a great day at Laurel Links a day later. Ric has been on the right track as in the 3 hour session we only had to make some simple adjustments.

Keep us posted on your game ric!
