Don't misunderstand, Mike, I already think yours is the best site in golf. But, being a really superior student, I hoped and expected that the book would be a magic bullet for me....

Also, I think you give an inordinate amount of your time to helping others, like me, become better golfers. I don't know how you do it....

Lastly, as a teacher (not golf, obviously), I know that we all must occasionally go backwards before we go forwards, but it's hard to be patient with the learning curve......

every time I see you hit balls I only see you moving forward, you just have to learn to let it translate to better scores and not try so hard....

I really have no issues with the way the book is written. I do not have a degree in the subject either.

I would say read the book AS PREFACED in the table of contents and keep thinking about it. The book is not meant to read, build then do. It is written as a process..........keeping turning in the mind, plowing the field sort of speak until you find your carrot!!!

patieance is SOOOOOOOO rewarded in this journey........but once the ephinany rains down.......and you get it , then it all becomes simple

    MJ--

the video was good. Mrs. Kelly was hard to understand at times, and that is understandable. Hearing stories was really nice. It really gives a great background to the thought process behind the "machine" and the thought process one must go through to BUILD the machine.

Though I will say, I would enjoy seeing more of the MEAT of the studio. The plane boards, the lines, and old charts and such. Of course I am a gear/tech head and enjoy the science behind things as much as I enjoy the ACTUAL things!!!! just my opinion.

I always enjoy talking about TGM, and the swing in general. When I talk about golf, I REALLY enjoy the look on peoples faces when you explain the "inner aft quad" of the ball, and align a TRUE square club face. Always surpises me. that always makes me smile just as much as a 7 iron that flies 160 and spins!

    Michael,
Thanks for this video. Sally and I talked many times by phone and it just brought back that image of that time.

    We shall begin!
The book is confusing to most, so lets approach it in the simplest format:
The first step in understanding the book is to understand how the book is broken down and how the Chapters are the key to successful navigation through the book. There are 14 chapters and understanding how they are mapped out is the key to easy navigation through the book.

Lets start with chapter #8. The 12 sections of the stroke. Here are 12 definable sections of the golf stroke that every stroke passes through and pictures to help their identity. The key here is to understand the terminology of the sections of the stroke so that in other parts of the book the terms are easily understood. The most interesting term is 'follow thru' and 'finish'

Most people equate the term follow thru as something longer in the through stroke. Homer Kelley used the term follow thru to define the point just after impact when both arms can be fully extended.

So let's have everyone read chapter 8, it is just a couple of pages and ask any questions you may have and I will answer. If a video is needed, I will make one. This is the easiest chapter - SO this should be quick and painless. At least now, we will all have the same terminology for the sections of the stroke as it pertains to The Golfing Machine book.
