    MJ,
Happy to tell you today I shot under par for the first time ever I have been been playing since 2005 and I started by playing tournament events right away first flighted AM events then military events; today I played in my first city event and shot a 70 par was 72 from 6800 yards. You have been very helpful in my understanding of all the info that i have been reading and researching you and Bmanz and My AI.

I used what I felt was the Circle path on pitch shots and chips shots today as i hit 12 of 18 greens. and got up and down on 5 of the holes I missed and the one i didnt get up and down on was a plugged bunker shot that i hit back into the flat part of the bunker. Then blasted out then 2 putted. Thats ok though thats golf! I made up for it on the next 2 holes so it was ok. I loved the feel of what I felts as the circle path and I will keep working on it.

I used that D plane pull fade shot that I asked you about in another thread I feel I hit the ball really well and straight stayed in play all day. The no roll feel in the full shot really was the key.

Also the wedges where great once I got the divots left and figured out that the club face of my clubs all ready point left using a "teerific tee drill" so i didnt need to add the left pointing face to get the face half the angle of the path to get a straight pull fade; I also hit them with more pop as I was playing for the distance that I normal gage and I was around 10 yards longer all day ( why would that be hitting a fade ? I have no idea; maybe didnt need to add loft and I could swing left without thinking it wouldn't turn back toward the target)
I know i am rambling but I was exciting. O yeah didnt win but placed T-4 but was one of 5 golfers that broke par out of 46 golfers.

    Thanks a bunch my friend!!

    MJ,
Thanks I will keep working at it. MJ how would you hit a powerful fade shot with the driver since the ball is teed up. Thats sarts down the left side and fades to the center of the fairway?

    MJ,
This week was another good walking week ( a good week of golf) First I played with 3 buddy's in a Charity event a 4 man step a side scramble and we won with a 59.
Then I played in a 1 day AM event which was fun I won going away it was a tough scoring day and I was lucky enough to make a few more putts than the field and shot an 79 from the back tee's 6934 Par was 71. Hit 13 of 14 fairways and the one I didnt hit was a 449 yard par 4; OB left and tree lined right and I hit it so far right deep in the trees and scored a double. The second tough hole was a 221 yard par 3; OB right and lateral hazard left; back pin so the hole was playing more like 232. I was just playing to the middle and hit a block 3 iron to the right and hit the cart path and landed behind a tree. Chip hit the root didnt advance the ball 6 yards, next chip off the pine straw short to the front edge of the green. 3rd chip 2 feet away 1 putt double (5) .

Those where my total blow up holes but other than that it was a really good round of golf and what made it better I had the best caddy a man could have My 14 year old son joined me for both rounds and he is out for spring break and he really enjoyed watching the golf of the other golfers and watching his old pops play. He got a kick out of it so I just purchased some tickets for this years TPC and will take him to see the pro's and I am sure he will enjoy it. Another person I think has found the joy of this great game. He wanted to hit balls right after the AM event. A GREAT WEEK OFF GOLF!!!! This is a great game.

    SwingO,
What I use on soft pitch shots is a hand path the feels if it was laying on a circle. I'm am not an AI of TGM but my buddy is and in the "The Golfing Machine" book it is a way to track the hand path in relationship to the HSP plane that you are swinging on. MJ can explain it far better than I... My AI was trained by Tom Tomasello and feels this is the best way to hit soft pitch shots less force across the shaft and using more of the middle part of sole on the wedge. I hope this helps but again I am sure a MJ will explain in better detail.

So you mean a tilted circle the approximate angle of the club? Thx.

    MJ and All,

Today started the club championship it was done as a shot gun start for all, starting holes based on handicaps...... Went into the event with the attitude that I would stick to my guns and play with the things I have been working on and stick with it with the intent on score and not playing swing.... Well started off shakey on the first hole a par 5.... I doubled that joker with 3 shakey swings but that was ok, went and played the next 8 holes at 3 under.

Now I am 1 under par going to my last 9 holes.... I went and had a rough back nine but I remembered the thread where we talked about putting up a score and grinding out a tough round..

I really focused on my shots, only thinking of the shot at hand and not having thoughts all over the place..... I get to my 18th hole a par 3, 201 yards pin at the middle yardage left center. So I was going to play a baby draw get on the green and give myself a putt at it.... Well I hit a baby push cut and missed the green 20 yards right hit a pitch to 10 feet and missed the putt.... 1 over (73 )

Now over all. I drove it ok with the 3 wood and 5 woods on any hole playing under 380 I hit for postion to play to 3 iron distances that I have been working on 190/ 141 and 115. Trying to use more course managment with what I felt I could do today through what I have been doing in my practice sessions...

Only hit 5 drivers today... (1) Pull draw behind a tree.... (2) Push fade in fairway on another hole.... (3) push fade long pin high they had the tees up to try to get people to go for it at 271 , I was pin high right side behind the green side bunker.... (4) Pull draw in the bunker on the left side..... (5) Pull draw in the left rough....

Hit the irons well only two thined irons and only 2 fat irons... For the most part irons where crisp strikes had to make sure I made what felt like the flatter trunk pivot and not try to over pivot and get that high right shoulder... I can see when I really get it that it will be better but even under the gun today I was pleased and kept in mind that i am in competition and working on my impact alignments and pivot.....

Short game putting today was and A+..... My putter saved me all day and I made some really good birdie putts but most of all I had a bunch of great par savers.... My chipping and pitching was a C..... I kept leaving everything at 6 to 9 feet short but the putting was so good I knew I would make them.... I need to work on that as we all know...... Well the leader shot a 69 so I have to go out and do my best and maybe I can slide in there...... we had 40 club golfers and only 4 went under par the other 3 shot 70 , 71, 71..... All the playes seemed to play well..... in all it was a fun round I look forward to the next round..... Thanks for listening/ reading

    MJ and all,
Well the club event is done in the books I was happy with the results today Played better... I was in the middle of the pack today when play started I got better and a few others went south so I moved up the board a bunch didnt win but finished a respectable T-8... Moved up from solo 15 at the begining of the day..... 71, 69 won it 138.....

I shot 73, 71 to finish even par 144 so I was pleased.... The things is MJ today was a easy 71 in my mind as I had a double bogey 7 on a shortish par 5 489 over the lake but the challenge was the Tee shot..... Most people hit duck hooks low and hooking....LOL well today on this hole I hit a towering HIGH draw hook thing that went OB....LMBO and still shot a 1 under par round...

NO big blow up holes and I hit a bunch I mean a bunch of shots inside 6 to 8 feet on both sides of the pin..... I hit 12 greens today.... I changed my chipping club today so to get more role after the ball hit the green as I was short all day yesterday... That did the trick.... Go it close enough to 1 putt on all 6 greens I missed.... No bunker shots all day today ... hit the irons great...... The 3 wood off the tee was like AWESOME.... no need for driver only used it 4 times.... one was the big hook the others where just ok not solid.... the 3 wood was the money club today long and straight .... not much side spin at all today.......

I know what we are trying to get at is working and I will soon be one of the guys at the club that will contend for the championship..... Flatter trunk no high right shoulder make a solid backswing and a solid impact and add the finish swivel and I will be on my way!!!!!!!

Thanks brother and all..... on to the next event the regional military championship.....in a few months I will work to perfect my pattern and trust it under pressure, and have fun...... Sustain the lag!!!!!
