Matt, I've kept going back to what you said here while working on Michael's suggestion on set up and back swing. I think I get what you're talking about and really tried to not let the left arm "push" the shoulder back and kept a bent left elbow to the top. It really seemed to help.
It could help also from the top down.

The lead arm bend could help separate the arms from the body and reduce tugging.

    Thanks Matt and Michael.

Call me crazy, but I have been hitting the ball probably the best I ever have on a consistent basis this week by trying to set up as Michael has said, having a loose feeling back swing by turning "easy" trying to not change the shoulder tilt from the address, having a slightly bent left arm into the transition, and the weirdest feeling for me is to hit the ball by only swinging my arms and the club from there.

I actually am trying to do nothing with the body except to be stable for the swinging of the arms and club and just let it react from there. I hope I can keep this swing feel

If I have any body pivot at all at the transition, then I can kiss that ball bye, bye.

I have read others saying pretty much the same thing here and at Brian's site, but never really understood until I finally experienced it for myself.

The only problem was hitting super high and short gap wedge and sw.

Sounds like you are on a good track now.

I have had the same sensations with my swing.

For me, once I separated the arms/club from the body I could do different things with the hands/wrists, weight distribution, ball position to adjust ball flight.

    Nice work spktho!

A few new swings. I've been working on the head position and getting the left arm more vertical and the tumble. Also trying to not roll the release--I'm hitting a lot of pulls. I think I'm ready if you've got any more suggestions. All advice is much appreciated.

I played last Monday with the early stages of this action. I know the left arm was not getting as vertical then, but shot a disappointing 81--hit like 11 or 12 fairways, but the irons were horrible hitting maybe 5 gir. I've only been sub 80 a few times so far, but definitely will be there a lot once I get this grooved.

    Spktho,

took a look at the latest clip.. its definitely an improved overall motion.

Are you striking irons off the toe???

    Any front views of swing?

I do tend to hit it off the toe especially when trying to hit it hard. I'll try to get a front view tomorrow.
