It took me a while to get this, but now that I have the shot is amazing. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Michael,

I hope you are doing well. It is great and amazing how much stellar information you give away on this site. Thank you so very much for that. I have a question on lie assessment with this very useful shot that I just learned. I wonder if there is an optimal lie to play this shot from? I am having a little trouble with getting the same distance with what I feel like the same swing and same speed with this shot from tight lies. I get pretty good direction with it, but sometimes I almost go right underneath it and hit it really short, when not trying to. I haven't shank/bladed one yet(crossing fingers), so I'm not swinging too far to the right. Could I be going to far left with it, or is it an equipment issue? I have a 60 degree with 4 degrees of bounce, still not 100% sure how bounce works and what is right for my game. Thoughts??

Thanks again for your time,

VJ

VJ,
The shot can be played from all kinds of lies and is very, very useful from the high rough due to the sharp descent into the ball. Very good question on the tighter lies.... here is my advice, try them again and do the procedure without turning your hands and opening the face

Thanks Michael. Your advice works like a charm. How'd you know that would work? better yet, why did it work? Is it bounce related?

Common Problem with the shot, glad it helped? If the face opens too much it creates more of a scooping sole
