Looking at that, your down swing - 15 seconds to 19 seconds - and contrasting it with your back swing - the first 08 seconds - is very illuminating.

If you can align your back swing - which is far too flat and dragged back in behind you, from my perspective - closer to your down swing then greater consistency and better results might be forthcoming.

It might help to break your tendency to drag the club back in and behind you, if you place your golf bag, upright, about one yard to the right of you with the back of the bag in line with your heels.

Best done in slo-mo till you get used to it.
That is close to what I have been working on and it was progressing nicely until late Sunday and Monday. Mike wanted me to get a little more upright without getting back to me steep shoulder turn. I'd love to swing down to the Island, but I taking a bunch of time off next month for golf and I actually do have some work that needs to be done. I'll try and get some vids up this week.

Phana,

Just reviewed the videos {sorry for the delay}

Swing direction is harshly left... especially with the driver and we all know a harsh swing direction left with a driver is a killer. I would tackle the overall swing direction to be more right immediately!

OK, I think I swerved into the correction. Last Friday I practiced and cut down some of the lower body activity, and concentrated on a full(95-100*) shoulder turn without getting steep. Busted the driving range (had 15 mph w/me and concrete landing area, owner was kidding me that I would have to pick up all the balls in the gravel pit.

Third hole of match something went funny in trailing (right) wrist. By 5, could not make hard ground contact and hold onto club. What is weird is on 4-9 I hit the driver better than I had all year, both accuracy and distance MRI diagnosed imflammed ECU tendon. We can talk about cause at the school. Note: I will get cortisone shots if necessary and have several cc's of lidocaine I will have with me, so I will be there.

My question is how in the name of God did I manage to add substantial yardage while unable to fully release the wrists? Is it possible that this pain forced me to make the proper "karate chop" move at the driver?

Don't spend any time on this, I know you are busy, but if you have an idea, let me know.

Phana,

Good to hear you are putting the pieces together on your own. We will take a look at next week's school to help you understand the distance gain... but sounds like to me the swing direction improvement has promoted some extra distance

This game is really fun. Went up to VT for weekend of golf. Saturday was Neshobe 6250, but a 71.3/122 courtesy of some Rock Hill style greens. Had 73 with three 3-jacks. Sunday was washed out at Green Mountain National. Monday night was 2 over rating for nine in league play.

Tonights practice was more fun. The grass areas were closed and its impossible to video in the enclosed boxes. The big improvement is what happens on my mediocre hits. My driver "miss" how tends to be a push, but slight heel and toes now go 250-260 and generally find the fairway. Pitch /chips far more accurate. Short irons get higher percentage to makeable birdies. Putting gets better every practice session. The 1, 2, 3 tempo provides better distance control without a lot of pre-round practice to dial in distance.

Mid-irons still lukewarm. Good shots more often picked clean. When I focus on releasing down the shaft, tend to hit a tad thin or push. When I concentrate on keeping head behind ball, tend to pick it or a little heavy. The rough we play greenside at the Crest or Frear is far more forgiving than The Rock, so it is not a big scoring issue.

Thanks Mike, I knew there was a better golfer here, and the numbers and ball flight don't lie.

That a boy Dan!!!

This is what we like to hear and makes everything we do worth while. You have worked really hard at your game for a long time but now you have the instructions to match up with the skills. Keep us posted and post up some swings so we can compare to old ones

Great job!!
