Kraz,
It is well documented the different styles of hitting and swinging that Homer Kelley authored in The Golfing Machine. It was long saluted that a complete set of rules and components applied for the different approaches. Obviously a stroke pattern for each could be drawn up from The Golfing Machine's catalog of chapter 10.
However, I suggest for everyone to see hitting and swinging as not different patterns but think of it more as different ways to apply force through the club. Think of it as swinging putting force along or down the shaft and hitting as putting force across the shaft. I wouldn't get wrapped up in trying to classify differences in patterns - but to understand that all full swings incorporate both types of forces. Anyone who hits the ball an appreciable distance applies both forces to the club.
I did make a video tip for this earlier in the year. Please visit the video tip archives and watch tip #12.5 - Hit or Swing? and Some website news
{obvioulsy, it is some old news
}
Hope that helps you Kraz....
