Default Use both hands to swing the club??? - 10-24-2009, 10:27 AM

A couple times recently when my swing gets screwed up I have abandon all thoughts about takeaway, getting to positions, swing path, etc... and siomply felt that both hands swung the club back and through together equally. I suppose I am utilizing some of the pressure points to control the swing. I am not thinking about turn, pivot, back to the target, etc... Just guide my hands to the ball. I seem to be making a free swing to the finish.
Does any one else think so little about anything?
Something's wrong with my computer software the last couple days so I can't load and view any video in case this was covered in the recent back swing tip.

Steve,

The goal of every golfer should be to train their pattern to the point where they can go out and do exactly what you are describing - making a free wheeling stroke in both directions. Sounds like when you are trying to consciously make movements in your swing you are disturbing the sequence of your swing and possibly even steering the club out of good alignments. A lot of times a golfer will try to over train themselves in areas where they are better off sensing just a free wheeling feeling....

Default Chop weeds / grass feeling when I swing - 10-26-2009, 12:05 PM

Mike
I would guess I was disturbing my sequence and forcing my swing. I walked 18 early yesterday experimenting with this again. Again I did not "try" to do anything except swing the club back and through brushing the grass. I took a couple practice swings doing just that in both directions clipping the grass just above the ground then I stepped in and swung the club in the same manner. The results were pretty good. I wound up with a free wheeling swing that carried me to the best finish position I've had in a while.
I have done some searching and there is a golf training aid called Melhorns grass whip. It is fashioned after a grass whip that was used to chop weeds and grass long before weed eaters were invented.
It looks like we are going to have a few more days of golf this week. I am going to continue persuing this swing and see where it takes me. I may even see if I can get someone to take a clip of it so I can look at it.
