Accually I Play real good in tournaments. I get real pumped up and play above myself. Been like that for yrs. I always play with players younger then me, longer than me and better than me(for money) and with the strokes I get I do fairly well.I just love competion win or lose..

That is a different mind set for sure joeparr. I think that more tournament players could adopt that, instead of a "fear" mind set. I know that in the pro-am's I play, I get so fearful of the big number or train wreck that I just try to keep things calm, and in the end I fall apart anyways.

Great topic to keep up with and will post more as I start playing more this year.

Thanks steve,I have such a competative nature being in sports all my life.
I competed against the best in sports and I was never afraid to lose as long as i gave my best, that was all I asked of myself.

    JOEPARR and ALL
I know the feeling as I played sports at the highest DI levels but that was where I had the ability an had been playing since a young kid,

So as I played those sports I had the mental and physical ability of a seasoned player (training, camps, and coaching and team mates)

So I always expected to do well as I have always been a winner.

But golf has become something else for me as I get to the higher levels of AM events the players are better the courses are more challenging than my home course the score counts as to me tournaments are a test of score.

I just cant out run, out lift, out jump the course a putt a chip or a drive or hit 9 straight greens.

So when i was a higher handicap player I was the best putter at the club and had a short game to envy chip pitch punch (TGM stuff) Lob Shot CUT lob circle path type stuff..

Then started working on the swing more to be able to drive it further, irons better Hitting pattern (Angle hinge)

Then Found out I was way under plane. So started working on tracing a straight plane line swing more left ( learning the D plane and a better body pivot) better club face control and Path and VSP and HSP and AOA and Launch conditions.....

So I have a bunch of info I can move the ball as I would like ... some times I don’t know what to aim at but I know my ball starts left of my target using a dowel on my target line on the range and trying to start it left and right of the stick.

I know that my full swing pattern when I go it I hit what looks like a pull draw.. But actually I have a AOA that -4 degrees and my path is 2 degrees to the right so I am hit draws but cant aim well enough to hit the green on a consistent basis ... but on the range I look like a pro ...

I know i like to see a straight away flight that falls a bit left ... get the left shoulder up get the body more open that effectively opens the face on my downs swing which is aggressive.....

But what I really would like to hear from everyone is .... How to score!!!!!

I want to get the ball in the hole but when you are aiming for one shot and you start the ball left and it doesn’t fade back or when you aim your swing right thing you will start it left and draw to the pin you hit a push ... Then you aim left of the target thinking you get the face to match the path and it a straight ball you pull it off but its 2 clubs short....

    How do you score...?

GOLF you have to love it and I wake up every day counting the minutes til I get off so that I can get out to the club to see if I can figure it out!!!

Tournament golf how do you score you’re best on a regular basis? Lower your handicap? And Player better in tournaments when you know you have what it takes???

Ok I think I understand get the ball up and down in two and make more one putts.... Played a after work Friday game 1 dollar dot per hole and 5 bucks stableford ... Faired ok scored well but the Club Pro went on a 5 hole birdie run and ran me out of the money.

He Shot a 67 on a windy and chilly day I shot even 72 and the other (3) 4somes came in at 74 to 78 being the high man this evening,

Was a tough scoring day but I wanted to play with our pro to watch how he scored and it was solid....He flighted the ball well hit the right shot for the hole and to land on the green and he took his time on the green...

he wasnt slow but he took his time to line his putt or chip up to ensure he only finsihed in the hole or had nothing worse than a tap in..

He wasn't overly long but he knew his shot shape and didnt waiver from the shot he was trying to hit.....

He also told me to come out more and play with the club guys that are lower handicap golfers to test my game against the clubs better players... I think thats something I will do to help me for my AM events... What do you all think....

I know I just need to play more and just work on scoring... Get out and play !!!
