Great question Drew,
I think its a combination of all people in the industry. So many people think the shaft is going to "Spring" and add a lot of speed, not the case. As a matter of fact when the shaft bends during the stroke it starts to become "Dynamically Stiffer" ... the shaft behavior near impact is more like a recovery than any type of spring. There are 3 very important bending modes that the shaft experiences during the stroke that play a huge role in club face orientation.
I have found from many sources that the best information on shafts and club heads is owned by the USGA but stays archived and confidential as to keep equipment manufacturers at bay. Very interesting stuff! Look forward to sharing more!
