hi,this my first post,i have purchased the nuclear golf web DVD and have watched a few times.one thing that is confusing me is the set up where the hand appear to be set opposite the left leg but looking at the many video tips on the forum the hands seem to be more in the middle.is the set up in the dvd now not recommended?

Paul, welcome to Mike's forum. Unfortunately my wife accidently deleted my Vol 3 video, so I can't refer to it. It may be a function of what club is being used. Mike plays the driver off his left heel, but also aims right, so it may appear that his driver set-up is off the left leg, but in reality, he has his hands just behind the ball.

P.S. I got even with her, and signed up for the Ultimate Golf School. Now I need to find the courage to tell her about it.

Next thing she's gonna delete is extra curricular activities, if you know what I mean!

Thanks for the welcome,i watched again and Mike say's "set up with your hands opposite the left thigh to promote a forward lean of the shaft" but looking at other videos Mike seems to set up with hands centred.I am rebuilding my swing as i rarely take a divot with my irons and feel like i have a lot of clubhead throwaway,i want to make sure i am doing things right from the start.

    cheers

OK, you are referring to Vol 1 which I have not seen. I would suggest you follow the video, practice, and then post some video of your swing. Obviously, pay particular attention to what Mike and the other pros have to say. Other students can be of assistance as we relate to you how we dealt with problems and which drills, ideas, or techniques worked for us.

    Paul,

Great question and I could understand the confusion. There are some players who set up with their hands forward of the middle of their body at address. Most notably Jack Nicklaus:

Having the hands more in the middle of your body at address is more widely used and has it's advantages:

As the years have gone on and I have done more and more scientific research, I have promoted more of a 'hands behind the ball setup' as it promotes an easy way to help align the club face for impact

Volume #1 was originally made to be a video for a rank beginner who wanted a foundation to start from... I never knew way over 30,000 people would watch it ...

    Hope that helps!
