    A bit of background...

I am 24 and a relatively new golfer, started 18 months ago when I finished uni here in England. To cut a loong story down, I have been "intent" on the nuances of the mechanically correct swing.

I have spent many hours reading various writings on golf forums - mainly brian manzella and here, and have read a few books. The one thing I look for in the these writings is the validity of what is said, and that is one objective that has lead me here, instruction based on sound principles.

Anyway, I have attached a link to a 6 iron ghost swing (no ball) for open comments as I have not been analyzed by anyone of any merit and would like to get constructive comments on anything that sticks out to the trained eye!

They are not great quality but still show my general pattern in broad terms. I think my gf has got me a casio ex-fh100 (240fps!) for my birthday this week fingers crossed!

I am currently thinking about set up points, the pivot, and arm movement (I am prone to have a flattish backswing). Enough for now!

    Cheers

P.S thanks Mike for doing what was necessary to allow me to post!

Gary, I found out when I first bought my Casio that my "ghost swing" was quite different from my actual swing. For a relative beginner you have a great swing. However, I did notice in the driver swing from your Youtube channel that the face was very open at the top and did not appear to square up at impact.

When you get your Casio, be sure to peruse Mike's forum for suggestions on camera angles, etc. Also, remember to try and read the instructions BEFORE you go to the range unlike at least one idiot here.

    2 things,
    1) gotta be hitting a ball, swings without a ball are just burning carbs
2)gotta get directly behind for down the line and then face on because angled video can make really distorted angles.
practice move is nice but I want to see it with the ball.
    Good luck

Unfortunately these videos are poor quality but I was just so eager to get something out there , I will be back with clearer video (hitting real balls) and I am sure I can find a previous post by Mike that advises on the best positions for camera placement when shooting video, it is like setting the parameters of the experiment so it needs to be constant.

I have always noticed that during the last quarter of my backswing pivot that my head sways off to the right (face on view), whereas it stays fairly quiet up to this pint, over-swinging a possibility?

    Thanks

    Gary,

Welcome to the crowd! We are glad to have you here and to help you out. I will wait until you post up some shots where you are striking a ball but I do see some little adjustments that we can make on the backswing.

    Put those swings up soon!
