Hi Michael,

looking forward to the new video. quick question though: i can see how(i think) to swing left as far as path goes, but does the clubface still want to be facing in the same direction, or should it generally stay directed at the intended target?
thanks
Great question! I don't know, but the butt of the club should be pointing at the target at the end of the swing (more or less), so I would think that clubface couldn't remain directed at the intended target except for specialty shots like a flop or out of the sand.
Hopefully, Mike has time to include this in his video answer.
Landshark,
Great question, it completely depends what you are trying to do. Lets use a 6 iron as an example as it is the common measurement club on 3d machine. For every 1 degree the golfer hits down, you want to offset with around a half of a degree or so swing direction left. So lets take the 6 iron statistic and examine:
Lets use the LPGA tour average as it is more practical for everyday golfers:
6 iron
Striking 2.3 degrees down
A swing direction of a little over a degree left would be a great idea!
Now back to the club face, depends on the desired shot shape - if you are looking for curvature then you want to diverge {extend in a different direction} the face from the path of the stroke.
Digest this info and let me know how I can help clarify for you from here

Now I am confused, but I don't think I understood Landshark's question. I thought he meant should the clubface stay open and toward the target or closed and away from the target.
Mike - looks like you have a bonafide winner in the video tip contest!
Thanks,
p
my question is that since you are swinging left, does the clubface itself also point left, or should it be in the direction of the target(which would be straight or forward)? my feeling is if it is going left in the same direction of the swing, wouldn't that give shots to the left also?
hope this helps a bit more.
I understand the question...
Our golf facility is closed after Labor for Aeration, will be my time to work on a series of shows and tips to make for the winter. Also will include a potential golf channel audition that I will post on here along with a very important Public Address Announcement from myself and one of my good friends on a very important joint venture this fall

Great question landmark
For straighter flying shots we want the club face and path to match up in a zeroing out fashion. The more the face diverges from the path the more curvature exists.
The swing direction - swinging left or right we want to match the angle of attack for straighter flying shots. Since we are amidst a Tropical Storm, I made you a little chart and attached it to this post! Hope that clears it up for you

Mike, 'a very important PA Announcement?...what a teaser that is. Good luck with the Golf Channel, you'd be awesome at it. Plus you have the new dvd comin out in November as well. Any ideawhen you'll be making the PA Announcement?
Thanks for all of you efforts! I also have to get you a video of my "swing", you'll need more than one piece of paper to critique it.
