Line drive shots and ground ball shots are an indication that the bottom edge of the club is striking the ball, I would take some practice time to study what your golf club is looking like at the point of contact.
As for your question on the wrists effecting the height of the shot, sounds to me that the movement you are making is having an opening or closing effect on the club face.
