Default Looking For a Little Guidance - 07-21-2010, 10:29 PM

Background: Pretty decent golfer (could be low 70s or mid 80s haha).

I took a year off and came back to golf a couple of months ago. I started with soft draw (Brian Manzella) to get rid of being laid off.
I think I overdid it though. Are my shoulders too steep? Am I cocking my right wrist or something? That takeaway looks funky.

I have ALWAYS "looked back" in the backswing. Any real problems with that? lead to inconsistent contact?

This ball was a 2 yard draw max.. it was well struck.

My issue is not knowing where the ball is going to go. Left, right, etc. I usually hit it pretty solid, just maybe lack club face control. I was on a trackman fairly recently. I was way inside out. Think I got it more left?

I would love to hear any suggestions from you Michael!

Thanks,

jershan1

Jershan1,

Thanks for posting your swing. I have taken a look and created a notes sheet for you. I recommend any and all to post their swing for some discussion, after all this is what the website was constructed for.

This is a swing from this morning. Thanks Michael for the analysis. This swing is my normal swing. The other one I tried to get across the line.

Hey Michael,

do you think this looks better?

I do not get my downswing and impact position at all. I am having trouble figuring out the correct downswing pivot. I also can not get the club to "exit" higher without swinging WAY right which causes some serious hooks. To me, my impact position looks bad from DTL.

Do you think I release PA 1 and 4 too soon?

Is that why I am not "open" enough at impact?

Jershan,

When you ask are you releasing PA 1 & 4 too early, I am assuming you are referring to Golfing Machine terminology and the PA is Power Accumulator and #1 is the right arm and #4 is the left arm relationship to chest.

A front image would be helpful but with that said, lets discuss what we can gleam from the screen shot I have taken.

The right arm is at the side of body - upper right forearm very close to the to the upper right thigh

Left arm is hanging straight down, image doesn't reveal much about how much across the body it is.. but looks fairly orthodox.

A front view would allow me to see side spine bends on backswing and downswing and allow me to really help you. Would really like to see the severity of that steeper trunk movement on a front view camera shot
