    Hi Mike:
Do you think most people keep the left arm straight too long after impact, and prohibit the club to climb on plane in the follow through? The feel from the umbrella drill seems to confirm this. When I allow the club to climb and the left arm "curls" it seems as though the speed of the downswing stays higher.
    Any thoughts?

    Best regards,
    Wayne

    Big Wayne!

How the heck are you? I heard that you hurt your back?? I have been up to your club a few times and enjoyed it very much. As for your question --

The umbrella drill is perfect for you because that clearly shows and helps you feel the entirely different direction your through swing needs to make. I am not sure I would officially say that golfers try too much to keep their left arm straight after the impact, I would say that they drive the club too much towards the hole and have then notion that they should throw the club towards the target. I can't tell you how many people show up for golf lessons and try to throw the club head towards the hole into the follow though. BAD IDEA!!! The umbrella drill helps the golfer sense the proper track of the club post impact. A strong opposition to taking the club up the right track on the follow through is indeed not opening the body enough into the follow through and finish. If you don't open that body you will have no choice but to drive that club head towards the hole. Keep the umbrella drill going and re watch grip and wrist action

    Hope all is well
