Hi Mike - I'm working on correcting my inside out swing you noticed during my lesson last week. Besides not standing too close to the ball, what other practice aides can I use to make sure I'm practicing correctly and having the club face some down in a straighter line?
    Thanks, Rob.

    Rob,

enjoyed working with you guys very much!

Did you watch the dvd volume #3 yet? Review the part about

    "Below Plane Syndrome"

Then report back and we will take it from there

Hey Mike - I watched the "Below plane syndrome" chapter in the video several times along with the other chapters. I'm starting to get it. It's a pretty big change for me, but I felt I had some success today at the range with my lesson partner John. I was struggling with how to begin the downswing and use the pivot sequence. John gave me a thought that works for him. When starting the downswing (I was trying to be at the square shoulder or at least turned shoulder plane at the top) do not move your arms at all, just turn the shoulders and hips towards the ball, and the arms will follow and release as the club comes down towards the ball. I must have been used to using my arms a lot when standing too close to the ball. Let me know what you think about that. Another thing that helped was having a head cover positioned where the only way to miss it was to come down in a straight line.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,
Those sound like very good things to be focusing on. Your backswing probably feels like it is much higher than it used to be. I would recommend reviewing the Volume 3 dvd over and over because the keys in that video will help you overcome the below plane syndrome.

A severe inside out, very flat stroke - takes some time to get rid of

On the other hand, when you start to experience the crisper ball turf contact it is well worth the retraining.

Keep us posted on your progress
