I know I ask a bunch of questions; Just really trying to learn my golf swing and whats the cause and effect of my body actions in relation to the ball flight? The pivot has been the most challenge thing for me to learn. Worked on a FLW and Clubhead Lag pressure and tracing a straight plane line but this dang Pivot has been a bear for me.

RA,

I am a straight shooter when I work with a student and when they are interested in reaching the next level I tell them exactly what is needed to achieve it. I do give careful consideration on whether or not they can physically achieve it, and believe me you can achieve a flatter trunk move.

If we use pop golf terminology the steep trunk move creates a 'lean left' at the top and makes right side of body ride too high on the way down which creates a swing direction too far left.

Mid body hands will help promote the flatter move ...... shrink the right side of your body ..... create more accumulator drag

Pivot might be a bear but without a more efficient body movement, reaching the next level will be a challenge

MJ,
Thanks brother I appreciate someone thats straight up with me as I am a 20year military man and I understand that and I need that to get better..... I was asking as I am a knowledge seeker I was trying to figure ways to get my brain around how to get this pivot and takeaway sorted out.

Thanks for the explaination. I will keep at it as you know I will and with this great info and the help I will get to that next level. As a side note yesterday I shot a 33 on the front 9 at my home course thinking nothing but to get a flatter trunk move.....

Then I went to the back got tougher to keep the mental stamina up that I needed shot a 39. But I see results! Just at times I am a bit impatient thats all. I hope i didnt offend you in any way asking for those explainations. I know you take a great deal of pride in help us o your site....

Mj,
Have you had a chance to look at the 2 new vid's I posted. Wanted to get your take on if I am getting the trunk flatter? With the proper Backswing movement?
Thanks

RA,

I had a lesson with Mike and I have the same problem. Another suggestion I found effective is to do Mike's club or stick drill in front of a full-length mirror. It really helped me to see and feel where I want to be on the backswing. Good luck.

Phana,
Thanks I will do the drill in a mirror. I have been using my shadow on the range so I will go out in the lab and use the mirror.

RA,

I just took a look, a bit better on the backswing but the right shoulder rides high at the very end of the backswing and sets the neck forward to where needed. You are making an improved initial trunk takeback but ultimately you are a hybrid between the 2 backswings which is causing the inconsistencies

MJ,

Thanks .... I will keep working on it.... So I am jacking my right shoulder high so I am going to far back then I guess? How do you post the videos so that they are seen in that box format?

RA,

I would eliminate that late 'jack up' of the right shoulder.

You can keep posting the swings with links from Youtube and I will readjust them into boxes so people don't have to leave the website

MJ,
I worked on just that today while playing a practice 18 Hit some really good shots. Still needed to add the finish swivel so that I wont lose the shot to the right at the end. Wanted to ask what would make a person do that late right shoulder jack up move?

Thanks

RA,

A lot of people jack that right shoulder up on the 11th hour of the backswing

Reasons:

An overall steep trunk movement
Steep hip movement
flat arm swing which needs a higher downswing
faulty sense of power source
aiming one way swinging a different way
Open clubface

Those are just a few that pop into my mind at the moment
