Jon,

A heavy hit or heavy club head feel is a fictitious phenomena where the player feels a sensation a lot like the drag tip I posted where the club head is being dragged like a heavy wet mop....

The concept is excellent for eliminating club head throwaway but also can lead to excess forward lean of the shaft through the hitting zone. The towel drill in the drag tip is the best example

Hope that helps!

Thanks MJ. So I guess the next question is - How do you create drag while getting the butt end of the club to point and the belly button at impact? This is key for me b/c based on our last lesson I had enough forward shaft lean yet at the same time I was still driving the club up and not getting the drag. Thanks.

Jon,

It is important to control the amount of lean of shaft, whether it be forward lean or dreaded backward lean. The million dollar question of how to get the right amount club head lag / drag and still be able to have optimal lean of the club shaft is the mechanics of golf!!!! Train the dragging feel, and then educate your hands to gain ideal impact alignments and you will be a happy golfer. The man reason you were pulling your arms 'into you' through the impact area was because you were carrying the club through the ball and not blasting the sweet spot at ball will a full extension.

How has your ball striking been since?

MJ - I think my focus now will really be on opening my body and throwing the sweet spot while creating drag. I think I read so much much about not flipping that I took it to another level and did not release the sweet spot at all. My ball striking has been decent at times. I still tend to pull the to the left and tend to hit the ground first. Just need to keep opening my chest and body and throw the sweet spot at the ball.

The other big point of emphasis you wanted me to work on was to level off my left wrist cock earlier. I am trying to figure this out as well.
Would love a quick video tip on this.

Enjoy the summit. Thanks.

Jon,

For you it is an excellent idea to start this leveling off and push from right arm when that club is at chest high on the way down. You can find these ideas in Explosive Golf Show #2 Ball Control and of course in full detail on Grip and Wrist Movie
