The thread 'Golfing Machine' that housed specific questions from the book has been locked up.. as we move forward I will not be retro fitting modern instruction into an old outdated system like the Golfing Machine. If there is really a specific question about how to interpret something from the book and you would like a real world answer please go ahead and ask and I will answer it .. but don't get upset if it's not what you want to hear.

    Thanks!

Michael, Just a quick question about the Golfing Machine, how has your mentor Ben Doyle felt about your recent views on Homer Kelley's work?

    Berg,

Saw Ben last week out in Monterey, made sure to pay him a visit. He was out teaching for a few hours and then took him and his wife out to dinner. Great man & friend... feel as though I am one of his adopted grandchildren. At this stage in my relationship with Ben we don't discuss The Golfing Machine or things of that nature.

I don't want to speak for him, but knowing the man as well as I do if he was in his prime he would have been the first to buy a Flightscope or a Trackman and be apart of the efforts for a better system.

No one had a bigger vested interest in The Golfing Machine than myself, years down the line I would have been a golfing machine legend. Just imagine, 30 years from now god willing if I can still do what I do --

Would have been a GSED for 41 years
Authorized by the legendary Ben Doyle
Earned the Doctorate from Sally Kelley
Would have been in contact with all the golfing machine legends - would have had quite the Golfing Machine resume.

Breaks my heart to to admit after all the advocacy on my behalf and all the retro fitting I did of new material to honor TGM and keep it harmonious with the system just cannot be done any longer.

    Here are some examples why:

    1. The geometry of the circle - the nuts and bolts of the system -- completely incorrect.
My new ball flight guide is combing through the new ball flight dynamics which was unveiled for the first time in 1994 by Theodore Jorgenson and revived by Trackman & Flightscop circa 2005

    2. Completely wrong on hitting & swinging being incompatiable. Pushing & Pulling exists with compatability in every full powered stroke. Keeping them seperate and saying they are incompatabilbe would ruin any PGA Tour career. If you knew the statistics of pure swinging alone or pure hitting alone , and watched a PGA Tour player attempt to adjust their swing to adhere to Homer Kelley's ideas they would disappear from the PGA Tour in minutes. We have all the statistics of power loss and gain and will reveal in a whole new system Project 1.68 .

    3. There is no Hinge Action as describe. SORRY! The maximum that could take place would .06th of a degree for his so called Horizontal Hinge Action. .06th of a degree is absolutely negligilbe to your eye. All the statistics will be unveiled
    4. There is no CONSERVATION OF ANGULAR MOMENTUM as described
    5. The Basic Motion & Acquired Motion is flawed
    6. NO heavy hit - No Resistance to Decelration & lag Pressure through impact interval
    7. AND MOST DAMAGING - the ball does not leave the club face at right angles to the face at seperation - One of the 21 and most important points in 1L - the machine concept

These are just a very small amount of what is actually incorrect and as stated I am not going to try to Retro Fit new materials into making these concepts work. So its sad to say that its time to move on but I am very excited about to be honest. Personally, I have always felt pressure to adhere to the Golfing Machine even though I knew I was doing something completely different.

So that is pretty much the story, many detractors say
"Well, if Michael Jacobs knew the concepts in the book properly he would act different"

I am proud to say thats not the case, I broke down the 7 editions of The Golfing Machine more than any human in existence. Many years of minuita all broken down into readable understandable text. I have 3 versions of The Golfing Machine in note form from a 1.5 year study with 2 of the brightest physicts that I have ever met. One man who may not know how much he helped me along was Dr. Narenderah Singh at my alma matta Methodist University PGA PGM. Physicts professor who shared time with me with great success. I just counted, 27 different broken down versions of the Golfing Machine in my library from golf pros and scientists. Age 19-23 I didn't even watch television as all I did was research.
Every person has their choice in the information they would like to follow, for those that want to follow mine it heads in a new direction and will not retro fit into The Golfing Machine because it simply cannot!

I have the goal of becoming a household name in golf instruction, so I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't necessary.
Hope that helps your understanding Berg and all who follow what i do

As you mention Michael...#7 Does that mean you don't agree with the "ball flight laws" principle?

    CanadianPro,

Which "Ball FLight Laws" are you referring to ?? The ones in the PGA Teaching Manual?

I'm referring to the youtube videos posted by John Dunigan and TheGolf Evolution that state that clubface angle at impact determines what line the ball starts on and that the relativity of the face angle to the path detrmines the curve

    CanadianPro,

Explosive Golf School Ball Flight Info:

The Initial ball direction falls between the club face angle and club path

Here is the KEY and what I was driving home about the error Homer Kelley made:

What constitutes the club face angle ?? The club face position at ball club separation?? Homer Kelly thought so, book literalists still think so but they are wrong.

The club face angle that influences the direction of the ball is very close to the maximum compression point of the impact interval. Whew!!!

Let me explain and shrink down the complexity:

The club face influence on the ball in 3D space take places at a point between impact point and ball club separation very close to the point of maximum distortion.

So like I said in the Ball Flight Guide 'Dynamic Loft' article, the club and ball are in contact for a brief moment in time and during that time they travel together while the ball distorts {compresses} on the club face. The ball and club travel together for approx. 3/4 of an inch on pretty much all speeds and swing sizes. During the time the ball and club are in contact, the compression of ball and club reaches a maximum point. Obviously, this maximum compression point is not the location of the initial contact and not the location of ball club separation. It is located within the 3/4 of an inch travel of ball / club impact. SO, that is the 'magic' point of club face influence. NOT SEPARATION -

    Now let me continue,
The initial start direction is very close to 80-85 % influenced by the club face when hitting a driver and closer to 72-77% when hitting an iron.

The remaining smaller percentage of initial direction comes from the resultant path of the club head.

The further apart the club face and club path diverge from each other {basically - point in different directions} the more the ball's spin axis tilts and the more curvature exists on the shot.

By the way - THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CONVENTIONAL THOUGHT OF SIDE SPIN

Hope that helps !! Great discussion by the way
