MJ,
I have been thinking about a few things we discussed on the site. As you have shared with us about acceleration profiles of the shaft and the web tips from you and Brian about axis tilt and arm swing and body pivot and what the hands do when holding the club..
Now once you start understanding all these components in the 3 zones and you get the numbers close to correct from flight scope… How do you go about training your game to work under pressure?
What I have notice and have been paying close attention to my body feels under pressure and the type of shots and ball flight I get when play tournament rounds vice practice rounds or causal rounds. What I have notice is I swing what feels faster and quicker under pressure as I am a fast tempo type of guy and it doesn’t get slower under pressure even though I have been working on it but to me it has been a bit counter intuitive.
So I had a team qualifier this week to make the team for a week long military invitational. 3 day 54 hole team play with a simultaneous 72 hole medal play. Now my question is to find out what your body does in that situation you have to place yourself in the thick off it.
So why not practice full bore flat out 100 percent shots on the range to get use to what your body will do and the type of shots you will produce when you are free wheeling with the swing?
Also when I practice trying to play at 75 to 80 % I hit shots but I often lose height distance from when I swing full bore…. Now I have practice so much hitting control shots but under pressure my body or better yet my mind goes into survival mode and I swing hard faster.
So would it be a good Idea to work on my ball striking with irons as I am going hard at it and get those numbers and ball flight. I see more gain in shot dispersion straighter less curve and I feel my body reacting better to the 95 to 100% swing than when I take something off it…
Is there any science or research that says this sounds any good as a theory?
When I swing flat out free wheel not feeling like I am steering the club I hit is straighter… I have read in the book which I know we aren’t talking about but if I take pressure off of Zone 2 and I add nothing to zone 3 just place a good grip on there then I get a more consistent shot that I can then aim better cause I know where its going and I feel as I have some type of control of the shot by giving up control and trust what I have learned and been training. And pivot the proper why and let the KS produce the d- plane for the desired shot

PS,
MJ, I made the team and I was the medalist for my base for the two day qaulifer (2 day total of 145!!) So next week I will be in the event as a team member and a single thanks fo all the help. South East Military Inv (SEMI) pretty big event for the area!!
