    Hi Michael,
Much has been made of the upper left arm and how it should be connected in the golf swing. Jimmy Ballard even made a career out of teaching it, but in your opinion how important is it and when should the left arm or both arms be connected in various stages of the golf swing? Thanks as always,
    Jimmy

    Jimmydean,

Great question! So glad you asked as this is a great topic. Sorry my time has been limited to get to the forum, I was able to make you a mini 4 minute office video tip to give you my opinion of the front arm - chest connection. Let me know what other questions you may have...

Looks like I am sleeping in the above freeze frame of the office video

What the interesting study on the connection topic is, is what are the tour averages of the left arm crossing the chest - how long it stays across the chest - and when it moves off.

As you probably have already guessed, I have fully investigated this scenario. High end players are not keeping their left arm glued to their chest during the downswing. There is more movement in the left arm leaving the chest on the downswing at the HALF WAY POINT OF THE DOWNSWING - then there is towards the impact. The concept of blasting the left arm off the chest into impact and any thought of sustaining a left arm / chest pressure point is ludicrous.

    Michael,
Thank you for your reply. A tremendous answer to a very complex theory. I have struggled for a long time with this concept, but your answer has cleared up any misconceptions that I had. By the way, your answers always make a great deal of sense!
    Thanks as always,
    Jimmy
P.S. When is the new book coming out?

Your welcome Jimmy, we should stay on this topic because it is a bed rock of consistent swinging. The target date for the book is Dec 1

By the way, I was sifting through emails and had this ad in my email box for a training aid:

I never a big fan of strapping up someone during a golf swing !!!
