I am having difficulty determining what path the bring the club head back during the backswing. I have started to go more straight back thnt inside with okay results but I'm not sure what the correct path should be. Thanks

I also would like to know about the new release backswing. Lets say the ball is at 12 o`clock the backswing should go were? I think the downswing is at 4 oclock, right?
Great questions guys, I would review this one and then we can discuss whatever questions that still may linger:

Mike with the new release does the backswing start with the body or the hands or does`nt make a difference?
Joe,
It is pretty safe to say that your body - arms - hands are all booing to be geared up together as you take the club back. The take back is a very interesting topic as there are a couple of significant nuances:
1. The golf club is essentially 'still' and has no momentum, therefore the golfer has complete control over the direction that the club moves. During the swing, the golf club will have momentum and will be able to resist what the golfer is doing {obviously the club has its greatest momentum late in the downswing}
2. Once the golfer understands the relationship of the front arm and club 'OFFSET ANGLE & how to freeze it' their takeaway problems will cease. Unfortunately I can't delve into that information right now as it heading to the publisher and awaiting some copyright verifications - but in a nutshell, sounds like you are on a good track Joe
