Hi Michael. I'm still struggling at the top just before transition with the club coming off the left hand heel pad and falling very much into my fingers. I guess this happens because I get wristy and my swing is long.

At some point you alluded to putting some grass in there?? Could you eloborate on that drill. Would larger grips help (wraps underneath?) I guess I just need to shorten my swing so it doesn't happen. Many thanks. JRJ

    Jrj,

That is not a good thing to have happen! For the most part, this happens because the right wrist is overly cocking up on the backswing. If you strive to keep the wrist more level you will have greater success with the left hand. Using grass clippings as a training aid will help also, place some grass clippings on the top side of the grip and place the heel pad over the grass clippings. During the stroke make sure none of the grass falls out....

I would look at the right wrist first! Keep us posted on your progress

Michael, thanks so much for the quick response. I just made some swings in my garage and, as usual, you're right on the money - if I allow my backswing to get past the point of right palm away/bent (for me) - the right wrist cocks and the club slips down into my fingers. So the key will be to keep that right palm away and not overswing my arms. I might be reaching that point called "Lack OF Talent" but I'll keep working on that right wrist. Thanks again. JRJ

i remember a while back you sent mike a video.

he mentioned to you about you right wrist cocking-up.

he mentioned about grass in your left hand (palm), then close the left hand and dont let the grass fall to the ground during the entire swing.

just a bit more........here is a hjack tip on how the right hand should be used.

you are at the dinner table.....a glass of wine in front of you.......do you take a drink.......or hand it to the person to your right

take a drink....your wrist cocks up......good for wine......sucks for golf swing

hand the wine to the person to your right....see how your wrist moves....................great for golf...and you stay sober........

Thanks HJACK - you are absolutely correct...Michael has identified my "false move." I just need to get it through my thick head not to let my right wrist cock. It's kinda like listening to the golf sports psychologists - no tension, visualize, one shot at a time, process not results..........yeah yeah - EASIER SAID THAN DONE!

    jrj.

in watching your swing you are very close to good scores.

    try this......

sit in your favorite chair........make sure your right elbow is facing (toward right hip)........put a golf ball in your right hand and grip it.....you will notice you will grip it with the thumb, index, and middle finger..

elbow down....hand out in front (like shaking hands)

ball is gripped..........i am sitting to your right

and i say.......hey jrj.....let me see that ball

do not turn to me, look straight ahead......hand me the ball

    see how the wrist works..????

one last thing......do everything in slo motion.....

    hj
