Well all it was a great day of learning and observation.
First I would like to say now that I know what to look for I can give a better report
“The REALEASE THREAD IS THE REAL DEAL!!” “IT AINT NO JOKE” I actually saw 95 % of the players rehearsing the release (soft lead wrist through the ball) BENT!
First I just watched them on the range all I could see wash the down the line view
Things I noticed from the down the line view; how straight down (vertical their arms hang from the bodies very close to them)
Their club path isn’t grossly inside out its more inside to square to inside / Very shallow divots !!!
Their Ball flight is higher and more boring than just a ballooning shot. Very little curvature to the shot (very very little spin axis tilt).
How square the clubface remains to the plan that’s set at address. The face doesn’t turn to lay on the plane as much as you would think.
(Zero) I mean NO twisting of the hands and the club.
The HAND PATH goes Left left left.!!!!!
They stand the shaft up (line up the club for impact)
They all hit it really great (I see why they’re playing for money/ a living)
Driver shots have minimal curvature!
They even have a well time release with the Driver no handle drag
Their short game wedges don’t balloon at all also not that high ; very straight flying shots
They don’t play for as much spin on short shots / they allow for more run out
Short game shots are played with a very square club face but the HSP was turned more left
Their hands were much closer to their bodies to the point that I thought they would hit there right leg or brush it…. going through the ball and they stand the shaft up on the short wedge shots no force across the shaft.
When they were putting the face stayed more square to square than I thought I couldn’t detect much face rotation.
The Tee height on all the clubs was very noticeably different than whats taught at driving ranges across that nation …. I watched the tee height with the driver it was high and the ball position was off the left big toe not the inside the left heel; inside the left heel is where the 3 wood was and it was teed with the cap end of the tee just touching the turf then the ball.. Wasn’t teed low the ball didn’t touch the turf ….
Also the 3 wood tee shots were lower and a more driving shots off the tee and they hit it high into the Par 5’s that’s when they where going after the par 5…. I saw them lay up more than I thought they do…
I was truly amazed and I’ve been to tour events but every time I see these guys, I am amazed at how straight they hit the ball…. Learn to hit it as straight as you can
I use to think when they hit it off line it was because of curvature. But actually now I know more… They miss with a straight push’s ( path and face matched up right of the target ) and a straight pull (face and path matched up left of the target)….. The weren’t many pull hooks and push slices (if any)
Straight balls or very soft draws (was the dominate ball flight)
Their fades reach there apex then fell softly to the right (great way to play golf )
Also when I walked the course with the groups I made a conscious effort to get at 90 degrees to their HSP to see what was happening and again I have to say the” Release Thread aint no joke”
MJ you have to come out with the “How to Video”
They attack the flag sticks no matter where they where!!!!!
Also noticed accuracy is a premium /less ball flight curvature is a must / Distance is great to have put if you don’t hit it as far they still scored because the hit it so so straight .
The course played tough.
Seems like they all have access to some Doppler tracking device!! That’s my take
3 under was leading when I left ….. (Par 70) two converted par 5’s) The guys were putting those speedy greens well.
I have meetings tomorrow at work so I won’t get back out until Saturday I will send another report on anything I missed when I go back out.
I know what I need to do to get better. Thanks MJ
I hope everyone enjoys the post!!!
