How does angle of attack effect distance for shot hit off of the ground? I'm not talking about hitting behind the ball hack style. If the tour average is -3.7* to -5* for a six iron, how does an AoA of say -7* or -9* effect distance assuming the path is left enough to be in the neighborhood of straightish/slight draw/slight fade ball flight?

If your launch angle is optimal while having an overly steep AA, then you are increasing your spin loft which is essentially decreasing your "compression". If you weren't increasing your spin loft, you would be launching it below your optimal launch angle. Either can knock yards off the shot.

    Mgranato,

Hall of fame answer! Do you have a Flightscope? If so which model?

I would normalize the angle of attack if possible

Awesome! The X-2 is absolutely great. Mark your calendar for October 18 & 19 as I will be hosting the first ever Flightscope Convention & Seminar. The advertisement should be hitting the internet in the next 2 weeks, but it will be the best 2 days of information ever assembled.

I have been spending most of my spare time coordinating the planning of the event and I am holding my DPlane and Simple Video for the official announcement of the event.
