Default Distance between elbows - 06-02-2008, 10:51 AM

Should one attempt to maintain the distance between the elbows from address to the top and back to impact, or reasonably the same with the elbow separating a bit on the backswing, and coming back together on the downswing?. I find that on the downswing, my right elbow is far away from my left elbow, thus my power Y or power package isn't powerful, but poofy and limp. Not sure if I should consciously maintain that structure or if the fault lies elsewhere .

Great question,

From the sounds of it, I think it would help you to feel the right elbow to work lower than the left elbow as the downswing begins...

what you are describing above usually takes place from the right elbow and right arm riding too high in the downswing and getting way above the left elbow... this should help you get more of a descending blow and provide more crunch into the ball instead of a poof. let us know how you do and we will expand from there
